About
The Common still feels like revolutionary ground underfoot—open lawn, softball diamonds, and ice when winter permits—while the Public Garden offers a gentler counterpoint with flower beds, the lagoon’s swan boats (operator fees apply), and the Make Way for Ducklings statues. Thread paths toward the State House dome on Beacon Hill, loop the lagoon bridges, and catch sunset light through the willows. It is the emotional centre of downtown Boston before you spill into Back Bay or the Freedom Trail’s red line.
Hours & access
Dawn to dusk typical; some paths lit later.
